Software and Hardware Development for Rail

Upgrade your railway infrastructure with us to lead the way on the market.

Wayside Signaling

Wayside Signaling

Being really rail geeks, we are pleased to provide you not only optimization but innovative improvement in multiple areas (e.g. multi-purpose monitoring, control systems, and rail mass transit wayside interlocking equipment). We are not afraid to improve both «dinosaurs» and modern interlocking equipment.

Our wayside signaling solutions will enable you with:

Direct control of wayside signals (color light signal lamps and searchlight signal mechanisms)
Switch machine control and switch point position monitoring
Switch lock position monitoring
Monitoring of mainline track circuits for track occupancy indications
Through-the-rails communications to adjacent wayside control systems
Monitoring of interlocking OS track circuits
Cab signal carrier/code generation
Line wire communications interface
Local manual control of wayside signals and switch machines
Vital serial communications to other compatible interlocking control
Non-vital controller logic
Non-vital (code line) communications to remote office

Contact us and we will assist you in choosing appropriate combinations of these functions to implement. The modular design enables a customized configuration of a system that will meet the specific control and interface requirements for the intended application. Each of our systems is supported by a suite of tools and related products.

Our clients will work with a professional team of signaling engineers, with corresponding University degrees and at least 8 years of industry experience. Have a big project? The 70+ engineers at PSA will be happy to cover it.

Software and Hardware Development for Rail

Firmware Development for Platform

Firmware Development for Platform

We offer modernization in any area; whether it be prototyping, real-time operating systems, system software configuration, firmware development, or complex systems testing, we can provide modernization services with strict adherence to industry standards. We don’t need any additional desktop apps to upgrade firmware or build application software with a web-based front-end for secure remote hardware configuration. So it will help you to simplify maintenance processes and cut out costs.

Software Development for Wayside

Software Development for Wayside

We know that every year it becomes more expensive for you to maintain old equipment. So, we offer modern railway solutions that will provide efficiency and safety for many years. PSA has worked on some of the most demanding high-speed networks in France, the UK, Belgium, China as well as Main Lines in the U.S., India, and Australia. We improve railroad signaling system interfaces and functionality by integrating data from different sources, making the system more productive and predictable. When you realize how easy it is to implement new functionality, you’ll have a kind word for us.

PSA provides rail interlocking design services for both relay-based and processor-based interlocking systems. Our development team, consisting of CAD, signaling, and software engineers, can provide you with a solution for mass transit and light-rail transit areas. We are familiar with existing standards for all industries that use rail, from plant to subway and beyond. We offer Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure the quality of the designed systems. Our team members have worked on modernizing interlocking equipment for companies like Bombardier and AZD-Praha, and are ready to apply their experience to your company as well.
Architecture Design for Back Office

Architecture Design for Back Office

Whether you are going to implement a dispatcher system for heavy haul or update drivers in the controlling system of the light train — we are ready to offer these services. PSA has over 15 years of experience with mass, freight, and light-rail transit systems. We provide:

  • the development and integration of new subsystems into existing Operations Control Centers,
  • reengineering — updating drivers, developing interfaces to external systems, enriching user interface and providing internationalization, improving international logic and performance.

We can carry out every stage of your project, from system design to testing. We can also deploy our partners' dispatch systems, and will meet your scale and budget while providing a full suite of services.

Back Office

Back Office

Among the many interlockings installed internationally, few offer an advanced, state-of-the-art control system able to manage the complexity of a network of thousands of kilometers, while also safely controlling traffic from a single control room. Many systems currently in use have room for improvement, and PSA has the experience and skills necessary to make these improvements.

The solutions we create are currently being utilized by both city transport systems and global systems all over the world. The Back Office supports a real-time highly reliable system, containing a variety of subsystems that store all data related to the rail network and trains.

You can implement and update the following systems with the help of PSA

  • Rail network state display
  • Bulletin management
  • Authorities management
  • Security subsystem
  • Train movement planner
  • Wayside device control system
  • Simulation subsystem
  • Alarms subsystem
  • External API provider

Use some combination? Easy. We develop various systems from basic to complex through the use of application-specific hardware configurations. Explain the problem or business goal, and we will assist you.

PSA has expertise in the development and integration of Public Address/Visual Messaging Systems (PA/VMS) to provide train arrival information for automated publication on dynamic displays to all stations along with the rail network infrastructure.

A good VMS plays a positive role in ensuring safety and is also an effective way to improve passenger flow.

Train arrival information can be derived from the following TCS actions:

  • Accept Operations Control Center (OCC) Dispatcher Train Calls for entry of new trains onto the rail transit territory.
  • Monitor & update train positions through the rail transit territory.
  • Based on train movement & observed performance calculate the predicted arrival for each train at each rail transit station and report against the station's expected arrival for that train.
  • Based on schedule information predict the station's arrival track and associated platform(s).
  • Review the arriving train type and report any special service characteristics for the arriving train station.

The TCS train arrival information is published in a table within its (Oracle) database and is available for access from a secured network account available only to the PA/VMS system head-end server.

In-Cab Systems

In-Cab Systems

Advanced cab technologies immediately identify all malfunctions during the operation of the train, as opposed to a person performing these diagnostic checks while the train is stationed. We’ll assist you with implementing or testing any tech that will help the conductor diagnose the breaking issue. Its interface shows speed and brake/motor conditions but also houses the GPS tracking system and network.

The onboard systems support

  • Communications
  • GPS
  • Electronic braking
  • Speed
  • Diagnostics
